Best berry pie in SF?
After reading about Duarte's pies, it occurred to me that for my birthday on Wednesday, I want a berry pie! But I'm not going to drive out of town for it, so, where can I buy great pie in SF?
I'm a berry lover more than a pie eater. But try Mission Beach Cafe. Alan makes wonderful berry pies.
I haven't been impressed with Mission Pie.

According to Duarte's website, Bryan's stocks frozen pies to bake at home. Worth a call.

You can't buy pie. Good tarts are available at hideous prices from some of the snazzier Patissieres.
I haven't tried it, but given the general level of quality there, I'd bet the pies at Bi-Rite are first-rate.
Duarte's crust is meh. You can do much better.

Tricky time of the year for a berry anything.
I know this won't help re your b'day (happy b'day!)--and it's not in SF.
But just to add to the "knowledge" base in this thread, Bakesale Betty's in Oakland and Crixa Cakes in Berkeley both make exceptionally fine berry pies in the summer--very different crusts, but each extraordinary.

I had the best marionberry pie from Destination Bakery in Glen Park about a month ago. The crust is excellent and everyone had a second serving. The pies are expensive (about $20) but worth it for a special meal. Call ahead since the flavors may change and they may run out.
