Looking for Isan/Northeast Thai Food - Thai Town, Perhaps?

Hello from snowy New York City guys!

So I have lived in Bangkok and Isan for many years and need an Isan-food fix badly! When in LA, I have usually gone to Jitlada (not Northeast, I know), but my last experience there was horrible beyond words. (Mediocre food and abominable service....)

Can anyone steer me to a Jitlada-alternative? Thai Town location would be best, but NOT a requirement....

Thanks!

Yai's on Hollywood Blvd. They have lots of Isaan-style dishes on their regular menu and specials board.

If you want to venture out of LA, try Renu Nakorn for an even more impressive selection.

Ranu Nakorn is terrific. 13019 Rosecrans Ave., Norwalk -- a few blocks east of the 5 freeway.

If you are ever out in the west valley try Top Thai in Reseda. It has a good selection of Northern Thai specialties. See the menu link on it's CH page below and look at the listing for "House Specials".

WOW! Good to hear that they are still around. We used to eat there when I was little!

Interestingly, Top Thai and Spicy BBQ owners are sisters...

              Very interesting!! Thanks!
I was just looking at all the pics on Yelp from Spicy BBQ. I have to get my butt over there and try it - especially since I have now been to Lotus of Siam in LV. Cannot wait!!

                My pleasure Servorg/WildSwede!
I have always had extremely good food when I order the Nothern Thai dishes at Spicy BBQ (except the Khao Soi which I found so-so compared to Thailand). I have seen some "scary" looking food delivered to other tables. By scary I mean boring looking, "Americanized" (huge portion/low price/cheap ingredient) dishes.
But I love the pork dishes, sausages, jackfruit. Cannot remember if I had the green papaya salad there or not.

For Northern I like Spicy BBQ.

Zero atmo - makes Jitlada look like Spago - but quite a few good Northern specialties.
