Restaurants for dinner meeting - Midtown East

Hi everyone. One of my clients will be meeting for dinner with a couple of business partners near the UN later this week. I moved away from the NYC area almost 2 years ago. Could someone please give me a few ideas on good places fairly close to the UN for them to eat? (Except Convivio).

  1. Fabio Piccolo Fiore - 230 E. 44th Street between Second and Third. Good Southern Italian, excellent service and quiet enough for conversation.

    2. You haven't mentioned cuisine preferences or price which would help. However, if your client and his/her business partners like Indian cuisine, I high recommend Tulsi, on 46th, b/t 2nd & 3rd -- definitely not your average Indian restaurant. Superb cuisine beautifully presented, good wine list, excellent service, conversation-friendly noise level, and gorgeous decor. Fairly expensive but totally worth it!

Thanks RGR - corrected. Trying to do too much too fast! Will forward the Indian idea. Cuisine isn't a major problem. I want to give my client a spread to choose from, maybe 4-5 different restaurants.

      2. Thanks Elizabeth and RCC - I had earmarked FBF myself as a potential and it's nice to get confirmation, which is the whole reason for my post. Not all reviews note whether a venue is good enough for conversation which is the main point due to it being a business dinner. I appreciate it!

You might also look at Alcalá [formerly Marichu], SS, on 46th just off First. The cuisine, Basque-for-beginners, is not out of this world, but serviceable; the room, on the other hand, is very nice -and in the evening will be perfect for a business dinner.
