54 Mint
I've eaten at 54 Mint many times and enjoyed it, but had a bad experience this weekend. I tried the ricotta fritters which arrived lukewarm and tasteless. I had read a review noting octopus which didn't appear to be freshly sliced, and my experience may confirm shortcuts being taken in the kitchen. The place is not what it used to be.

Apparently they're opening a spinoff in Concord, maybe that's affecting their focus?

I just realized this spinoff is in my nearby strip mall when I walked by it yesterday. It looks like they're a couple of weeks away. I'm hopeful it will be good since it's walking distance from my house.

Thanks for this info. My husband and I have plans to check it out Valentine's day-- I know, not the best day..., but may reconsider. I've been wanting to try this place.

I did end up trying this place on Valentine's day. Our dinner was really unremarkable and not so good. We loved the spot and may give it another go on a regular night. Appetizer was a truffle pasta (tagliattele) and it was either undercooked or something- and I do like al dente. And there was barely any sauce or taste/oil. There were truffle shavings- I don't know. It just wasn't done well. Then I chose a cannelloni entree-- while fine, it almost seemed like a frozen dinner. One of the desserts was great - a panna cotta. There was also a chili chocolate mousse and the chili overpowered the whole thing, my husband and I took one bite each and were done. Service was good and friendly.

I don't think Valentine's day is ever a good night for a restaurant.
I went to 54 Mint a few days after the OP and had a great meal. I started with a house-made buffalo mozzarella that was fantastic. Didn't try the desserts because we were late for the theater.

Am I reading this right? House-made buffalo mozzarella? Where did they get the buffalo milk? Color me skeptical.
