This may be tough this time of year. Strawbs are year around, but the cooler months usually brings out a pretty thin and not so great crop - I tend to see the long stems during the "real" strawberry season - approx. May-August in SoCal. I didn't see any at neither the Saturday Santa Monica FM on Arizona or the Sunday Mar Vista FM. I haven't been to the Hollywood FM in a while, and do recall quite a bit of strawb action there even in January/February. Another possible source might be Marina Farms on Centinela in the Del Rey/Playa Vista area. You might call them and ask about availability.

re: PomsMoms
I'm not sure about during regular strawberry season, but I'd think that those big long-stems are probably a hot house item at this time of year. They're sure to draw a premium price. You bring up a great point that with V-day around the corner, there must be bakeries, etc., that will demand such an item. Good luck and please report back!

re: bulavinaka
You're probably right about big long-stems being grown in green houses. It's too cold for strawberries in most of the US right now. While I've actually harvested a handful of strawberries from my garden in January, they tend to be small and short on flavor. If they need to flown in from the Southern Hemisphere, I'm guessing they'll be on the unripe side in order to prevent them from getting crushed.
