BEST SOUL FOOD/WEST INDIAN FOOD IN LOS ANGELES
Hi there,
Looking for you recommendations on the best soul food in Los Angeles. Not a purist though! Collards and ribs are fantastic but also looking for West Indian and possibly African (like Ethiopian) suggestions. Bring it on!
We like Bertha's for soul food and, while I think it's slipped a little bit over the years M&M Soul food can still bring it. M & M has two locations but we have only been to the Centinela Ave. location near Pann's.

I like MP's Soul Food Eatery (formerly known as Miss Peaches) on Lankershim in North Hollywood and Uncle Andre's BBQ in Valley Village. Both have excellent greens and fried chicken. I usually get the smothered chicken at MP and the pork ribs at Uncle Andres. Uncle Andres also makes one the best gumbos I've had (outside of my mother's) but they only have it on Fridays and they tend to sell out.

also looking for West Indian
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
for clarification, are you looking for food from Western regions of India (Goa, Gujarat, etc) or from the West Indies?
Ethiopian, "African" (that's a pretty broad category) et al:
