Blue Agave Tequila Bar & Grill Opens in East Naples

Blue Agave Tequila Bar & Grill opened on the East Trail just outside of Town Center Mall, and I like it.
Had a good salmon ceviche, and enjoyed the ambiance. Service was attentive.
Like that they have both Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican foods, many from the Oaxaca region.
The molcajete dish arrives steaming in a hot molcajete, with grilled cactus (nopales) leaves draped over the sides. It's filled with sausage, steak, chicken and vegetables.Plenty for two or three to enjoy . Also had the chicken mole, with hints of cinnamon and garlic.
It's nicely run by Arturo and Judy of Marco Island's Arturo's fame- I love their pork chop!
I'll be back to Blue Agave try some Tequilas-maybe a good spot for a chowdown!
My wife and I tried it for lunch and I was underwhelmed.
The tortilla chips and salsa they put on the table were very good. The server was friendly and quite helpful. I started with the ceviche. Upon arrival, the first thing I thougt was, "Salmon in a Mexican Ceviche ?" With all of the fishing I've done in Mexico I never ran into a salmon. The ceviche tasted as though it had been marinating for a week. The fish tasted fishy and was a bit mealy on the outside. I'm a ceviche fan and eat it often. This was the worst I've had in awhile.
I then had the fish tacos. They were just OK. Not a whole lot of fish. Some type of sauce (chipotle mayo ?) on it and not much else. For my taste, the fish tacos at Tommy Bahamas and Nacho Mamas on Marco have it all over these.
My wife had the combo fajitas and really liked them. I tasted them and thought they were very good. The charred tortillas were a nice touch and added to the flavor.
They did a nice job with the interior. Makes for a nice vibe.
I wish them luck and will probably try it again, although I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

We ate at Blue Agave last night and were very unimpressed. The margaritas wer $7 and did not taste as if they had any tequilla in...just watered down tequilla mix. I ordered the chilies rellenos and the plate came with one chile relleno, a small serving of refried beans and a serving of yellow rice. The chile relleno looked as if it had been sitting for hours under a heat lamp. Not any good flavor in anything on the plate. Thank goodness for the salsa that was served with the tortilla chips! My husband ordered the chicken and beef fajitas. They did come sissling but beyond that they had no flavor. Again, thank goodness for the salsa. The chile rellenos were $13 or $14 and the fajitas were around $16. Our dinning companions had eaten there before. They order skirt steak and said it was not as good as in the past. Very dry. Service was fast on the food but slow for water we asked for 3 or 4 times and extras salsa. With other better and less expensive Mexican restaurants in Naples, we won't be back.
I had a friend go there last week.
She normally gets "loopy" after one drink. Here, she had one drink, barely tasted alcohol, and and felt no effects-not a good sign for a tequila bar.
BCjr, I thought the same thing about salmon swimming around Mexico, too. Still mine were fresh tasting, yours with excess marinating time tell of inconsistency in the kitchen.
Suelene, now I hesitate to go back and try the chile rellenos, one of my Tex-Mex favorites elsewhere. Having chowdown here can wait till reports improve.
These reports should be a wake up call to Blue Agave.
