Authentic country ham in S.D.?

pine time Feb 6, 2011 05:11 AM

I'm originally from Kentucky, so I don't think kindly of restaurants who add a bunch of salt to "city ham" (sugar cured) and pass it off as country ham (will not name the should-be-ashamed-of-themselves place). Any restaurant serving real country ham? Even meat shops selling it? I drive to Yuma to Cracker Barrel and buy a year's supply for the freezer, but it's a danged boring drive after a few years. Would prefer to buy it locally rather than mail-order. Ideas?

The Linkery cures its own country ham, and El Take it Easy serves the same ham.

I could swear I saw one at Bristol Farms right before Christmas, but it probably was a specialty order.

Thanks--will try 'em both. Being from the Land of Biscuits and Gravy, I need a good country ham to complete the meal.
