What are some jobs related to food? I am looking to work in the field and want to know all of the posibilities. I know the obvious chef, writer, consultant, owner, stylist, etc., but want to know some other not well known jobs. Thanks

Which are your skills and which are your interest? Have you had any professional training or experience in any of these things?

Try to find Barbara Sims-Bell's books: "FOODWORK, Jobs in the food industry and how to get them" [1998] and "Career Opportunities in the Food and Beverage Industry" [2002]. She lists jobs from A-Z (Agricultural Adviser - Zoo Chef), requirements, the career ladder, likely locations and salary. You will likely find possibilities that you never imagined. Good luck on your hunt.

Zoos around the country have a chef on staff for specific animal needs. Here in Phoenix, we had an elephant famous for her paintings. Ruby's favorite food was beet puree, so on special occasions, the chef would make bus tubs full of beet puree to "frost" her alfafa bale birthday cake studded with carrot "candles".

More normal duties were specific diets for animals, both ill and well.
