San Francisco - romantic with decent food

Mrs DD and I just decided to meet in San Francisco on the weekend before Valentine's Day. Working across the country from each other, the times we get together are special. I'm looking for an intimate place for dinner on Saturday the 12th. We aren't hardcore foodies, so the cuisine is open to just about anything except maybe for Asian. My first choice was Gitane, but they are slammed that night. Any suggestions to help me out? We're staying near Union Square and I would rather leave the car parked. Short taxi ride would be okay, though. Thanks!

Open Tables list of "romantic" restaurants includes Woodward Gardens and Chez Spencer. BTW, if Open Table shows no availability for a restaurant they may still have some tables (especially prime-time tables) if you call them directly (and tell them your story!).

Also, remember that OpenTable takes quite a chunk from the restaurant for the service. If you like the restaurant, call them and have them make the OT reservation!

Exactly what I was going to suggest.
Anytime someone mentions romantic restaurants, this place comes to mind.
Order salads, share a souffle, have some nice french chablis in the old school glasses. Simple food, which gives lots of opportunity for hand holding and eye gazing. Perfect.
