Where to buy snow crabs in/near WV (store not restaurant)?

Hi-I am in the mood for snow crabs. Lobster Place on Bleeker is my usual go to market-they do not carry them. Citarella does not either.

Does anyone know of a market/store in WV or SoHo? I am sure Lobster Place in Chelsea does or Chinatown-but would prefer some place nearby.

Isn't there a live seafood (Chinese) store on the east side of Lafayette Ave. a few blocks north of Canal? I forget the name and exact location, but I could swear they sell whole, live snow crabs and king crab.

In regards to my first post: the place is called Centre Seafood Inc. And they're located at 206 Centre Street, not Lafayette like I thought. Which makes sense, since when I was on Lafayette earlier today I thought DOT switched directions of street traffic on me. Anyway, they don't sell snow crab. They do however, if anyone is interested, sell live in lobster and dunganese in huge tanks, where there's plenty of room for crustacean scampering. They also LIVE Alaskan king crab, in season only, for $20+ a pound. The owner told me the season starts next month.

P.S. I also saw tons of frozen snow crab legs being sold on the south side of Canal (between Lafayette & Mott) at the seafood stores.

I think you'll have to head down to Chinatown if Lobster Place won't/can't get them for you.

I don't think it's that strange -- plenty of neighborhoods in Manhattan (like the East Village, Gramercy) don't even have a proper fishmonger or a place to buy high quality seafood, period.

FreshDirect has snow crab legs quite often, BTW.

I live alone-and enjoy cooking. I really have never had a problem finding anything.
Ethnic foods--pretty much all meats etc
East Village does seem like a tough grocery neighborhood besides Whole Foods--we dont have that option in the WV.
You are correct-Fresh Direct does have them at a good price too.

I wouldn't trust the Whole Foods Bowery seafood department. I've bought crab legs there only to realize half of them had mushy meat and smelled off.

Maybe I walk faster, but I can walk to Chinatown in about 20 minutes. Is 10 minutes more that much of an inconvenience?

Second the FreshDirect recommendation. And, also, did you ask Lobster Place if they'll get them for you? They seem pretty helpful about stuff like that.
