Arepa City Harrisburg, PA

Tried this last weekend. Never had arepas before so can't talk about authenticity. It's a little hole in the wall place but sit down restaurant. Two of us split 3 arepas (didn't need three but we were hungry and didn't know what size they would be. We tried the following:

Miliciosa (Roasted pork, grilled queso fresco and sliced of avocado

Chorizo con Papas (Chorizo and diced potatoes)

Chicken Morichal (Juicy chicken in tomato sauce , Black Bean and Fried Plantains)

plus because they had just opened and it took some time with everyone showing up right away we had some free appetizer of tostones with garlic mayo and carrot mayo and spicy cabbage.

Great place to try some Venezuelan food in Central, PA. Has anyone else gone and can attest to the authenticity?

  1. I tried this place last Summer when I was doing some consulting in H-burg. Can't say it was bad - but it didn't blow me away - the food seemed kindof stale and didn't have as much flavor as I expected. Can't attest to the authenticity though.

I think the flavor definitely depends on what you order. I thought the Miliciosa was going to be the best but the Chicken Morichal (recommended by the owner) blew me away. I wasn't really impressed with the other two. I think it pays to ask for recommendations.
