Besides rice, what do you cook in your rice cooker? Any recipes worth trying?

I love my rice cooker, but only use it to make rice & steel cut oats. Although intuitive, and as dumb as this sounds, I just learned that you can use it for other things. Does anyone have good recipes that they can share? Thanks.

Not much more creative but I use it for potatoes that I'm going to mash. It holds them at a perfect temperature and I mash when I'm ready for them.

What kind of rice cooker do you have? The newer digital kind with a bunch of settings, or the one with "cook-warm" only setting? I tested to see if my old rice cooker can bake a cake and used a cheap boxed carrot cake mix. I mixed the batter and threw it in the greased box, set to cook and it worked! The cake wasn't good though.

If you have the newer kind, you can try this:

Don't have a rice cooker. Doing rice in a nice heavy pot on the stove is fine by me.

Be careful, Dyna. I *killed* my rice cooker making a yummy recipe out of Food and Wine. It was for Thai-style chicken thighs and rice with ginger and coconut milk. Of course, my cooker was 8 yrs old and a run of the mill brand.

I soak and cook beans and porridges in mine. and some stews, though I like doing those on the stove better really.
