Adding A "Like" button

Often one really "likes" a comment a poster has written, and rather then say yeah I agree blah blah blah, it would be nice to just have a button you could press that's similar to the "like" button facebook. It could say "yum" to keep it food related :). Any chance for that?

Thanks for pointing it out to me. I find having the "people reading me" section to be a very cliquish feature. Perhaps if more people read me I'd feel differently :), BTW what is this +1 -1 folks mentioned. I never noticed that.

It's done at an individuals discretion when replying to someone's post. So, all you would see would be a "+ 1" indicating agreement (or "Like" if you will) with that post. The "- 1" is not going to be allowed to stand as an only reply according to Jacquilynne (the Moderator link to the CH community).

so the plus one is in effect already?

          1. re: michele cindy

People are using it on a case by case basis.

            1. re: michele cindy

"+1" is not a site feature and hopefully never will be. It's being used by some posters as the sole text of a message, unfortunately,

While a "+1" frequently adds little, it still represents the communicative effort of an individual (albeit an elementary one). The addition of a "like" button feature, on the other hand, just seems like a banal thing for the community to accept.

Wouldn't that make Chowhound more like a figure skating competition?

                  1. re: MGZ

There is a "like" button in the upper right hand quadrant of the page but not for individual posts.

                  2. re: Melanie Wong

If someone else has already posted what I was going to give as my opinion, I now use a +1. Why would it be better for me to type the same thing again?
