Good place to buy scotch in DC?

Hi Folks,

Where in the DC area can one find a good place to buy scotch? I am in Virginia and the selection at the ABC stores is decent but boring. I'd like to try one from some place unique.

I've heard that there are some good one's from Japan? And "Amrut" from India is supposed to be very good as well. Anyone know where I can get either?

Ace Beverage (http://acebevdc.com/) on New Mexico Avenue near American has a great selection, and a really knowledgeable staff. You can call ahead to see what they have in, and they can even do special orders sometimes.

But I'd argue that while some of the other countries produce some "interesting" drinks, the best whisky is still made only in Scotland.

Eddie Bassin's on Mac Arthur Blvd. has a large selection of single-malt Scot's whiskey. I'm not sure about "scotch" from countries other than Scotland, though. Hell, give 'em a call.

Big second on Ace Beverage! Excellent selection and a very knowledgeable staff that always has time to discuss and assist. Beyond scotch, they have a fascinating selection of rums, american whiskies, mezcal...the list goes on.

Ace has great customer service and their delivery service is great for special events and parties. I used to work for a catering company on weekends for 10 plus and Ace always provided great on time service

Another vote for Ace Beverage. They're really knowledgeable, friendly, and accurate with their recommendations. All the other things people said about them I've experienced positively as well.
