Hayward Recommendation, please

A friend of mine has moved to Hayward, on the Castro Valley border). She's asked me to find someplace good for us to eat dinner this weekend close to her house. I live in Oakland, but have no idea what's good eating in Hayward. We are open to any kind of food, any price, except probably a steakhouse, since I don't eat red meat. Holes-in-the-wall are great.

Any ideas welcomed!

Buon Appetit has been open for more than 15 years and is always good...as in up to Bay Area standards of freshness and taste. Let's hope this second expansion does not stretch their abilities as this is the only dependable restaurant in our town.

We haven't been in several years, but there's a great Thai place on Mission just a bit southeast of 238, called Thai Garden -- it's been around forever and is consistently the best Thai we've ever had outside of Lotus of Siam in Vegas. http://www.thaigardenonline.com/

Perhaps the best Indian in the east bay.
