Non-traditional baby shower - fingerfood/cocktail brunch for 40-50?
I've looked through the archives but didn't really find anyone looking for this specifically. I'm looking to host a baby shower, but it'll be a co-ed sort of party thing (with booze). I'm thinking late brunch fingerfood-y cocktails (mimosas!) type of thing, not a sit down thing. On a Sunday I guess.
I'm looking into both venue rentals/caterers (or bringing in food ourselves if I can rally up enough people to cook!) and private party rooms in restaurants....
any suggestions? Location not a big deal - just has to be accessible by transit (and within the Toronto borders - no extra fare required!).

Globe Bistro has a private room that would work, they are close to Broadview subway station and they have good food and service.

You could take over the Rivoli's pool hall. Thai-style finger food.

I've never had the platters they do upstairs but the food they have in the restaurant and at the Queen Mother is pretty solid Canadian fusion version of southeast Asian. Pad Thai, spring rolls, a few Laotian dishes. The original chef there was the famous Vanipha but she hasn't cooked there in about 20 years!
