Chicago Beef and Hot Dogs in Albany?

Driving through the Solano Ave & San Pablo Ave intersection - I think I saw a sign on the business occupying the NW corner - that read: Chicago Beef and Chicago Hot Dogs. Was I imagining that? Did I read it wrong?

  1. Nopo, it is the Four Corners and Le French Cafe (forgot the name already) space. Hopefully this one will be good, and stick around.

    1. Thank you! I could have sworn I saw that sign reading Chicago Beef and Hot Dogs ........

A couple of beef sandwich choices x2 (with/without cheese) and several dogs - cash only. Didn't walk inside because I was with canine. Maybe simple, spartan, cash is the right recipe for that corner.

      2. dropped by on Friday for lunch. they had sold out of all their food on Thurs so had to restock Friday morning resulting in a slightly late opening. it tried a Chicago dog w/ the works, $4, (quartered dill pickles, the neon green relish, tomatoes, onion i think, mustard & ketchup, pickled whole hot peppers) and a cheesy beef sandwich which came with Giardiniera, provalone and dipped in au jus, $8. The hot dog itself was pretty good, but I think all the rest just isn't my thing, it sort of overwhelmed everything and got kinda soggy and hard to hold. The beef sandwich was definitely a mess and hard to handle, but was very tasty. I like their Giardiniera a lot, and if I went back, would probably ask for a little extra on my sandwich.

i also found it hard to handle. the Amoroso roll started to disintegrate a bit 1/2-way through eating it and dumped all the meat / fillings onto the foil on the table.

you can order the sandwich "dry". at least that's an option at places in Chicago.
