Super lunch on a snowy Wednesday- Globe Bistro

Wasn't sure I was going to be able to make the doctor's appointment at Pape and Danforth- a long drive from "The County" -but Via Rail made it possible. Doctoring done, time for lunch. Fortunately, the snow storm resulted in many cancellations and I was easily able to get a table, sans reservation, for one, at 12:30. The attentive service to a lone, older female was most appreciated. Too often I receive dreadful service when eating solo. I had a lovely lunch, going back and forth from regular lunch menu and Winterlicious menu. Starter was Local Celler veg. salad- judicous use of salt rounded out walnuts. I was torn between rib eye burger and salted cod from Winterlicious menu. Burger won out- that snow had me begging for beef, though judging from comments coming from table to my left, fish might have been the better choice. The burger was very juicy, fries lovely, but it was missing the cheese curds. Dessert was spiced goat's milk panna cotta. I'm not a huge dessert fan but this was good- not too sweet, poached fruit on top. A nice glass of Malbec with the hamburger, coffee with dessert and I was one happy lady. Good food, good service- how simple is that.

Thanks for the great review. A truly great restaurant is not just about the food, but how they treat the customer. I am adding Globe to my list.
