What is your GO TO dish for major snow storms? [moved from Northern New England]

Mine is Jambalaya and nothing like that warm spicy rice stew with all the meat and shrimp to get you through the day. My son’s friends all want to sleep over the night before a storm for that one reason. It doesn't hurt to have the extra hands for shoveling the next day. :) What is yours?

  1. We made spareribs and sauerkraut yesterday night--even better tonight after shoveling and snowblowing.

    1. Anything hearty &/or stewy - bean soups, chili, Coq au Vin or other braised chicken dishes, etc., etc.

      1. Soup always sounds like a good idea to me on those cold snowy days. I made a ham and potato soup that I found on today. I was pretty happy with the recipe, simple, delicious and warming.

        1. tonight was shepherd's pie, but with all the storms we have had lately I have been able to indulge my love of comfort foods. Beef stew, chicken and dumplings, taco soup, white bean soup, and roast chicken with root vegetables have all made appearances in our house on the snowy days.

          1. Red stacked enchiladas w/ pinto beans, so I could imagine we were back in sunny New Mexico.
Fast forward: I have returned to New Mexico. Snow day today from school, going down to -19 tonight. I made fish chowder, so it all seemed natural. Still sunny though!
