Renegade Canteen or Vincent's on Camelback?
Out-of-towners looking for a great dining experience - something uniquely Phoenix. Renegade Cafe or Vincent's on Camelback? Or something else?

I had a fantastic meal at Renegade last week. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly and the candy cap bread pudding for dessert - really delicious. My friend raved about her meal as well. Robert McGrath stopped by our table to chat for a few minutes about the meal, which was fun. The decor is beautiful. The only downside to the entire experience was that our waiter was pretentious, but it gave us a few laughs...
Renegade is definitely worth a visit!

Both are great, and I think the food at Vincent's has taken a recent upturn, the service can be hit or miss. Renegade is a little more uniquely Phoenix, but is Southwestern/New Mexican food. I'd do Renegade. Other options in the same categorry would be Rokerij/Richardson's or Tarbells or Christopher's or Eddie's . All local celebrity chef name concept restaurants.

re: pleen
Here's one vote to avoid Renegade. I have yet to have a good meal there on 3 occasions. I want it so very much to live up to the old Roaring Fork days, but it doesn't. Service is mediocre at best and food is subpar for Robert McGrath.
As for Vincent's, I haven't been in a number of years, but it can be very good when it is "on."
