Where to buy assorted Mexican Chili Peppers for Mole Sauce recipe
Hi.
Can anyone tell me where in Manhattan (below 42 st preferably) I can purchase a wide variety of Mexican chili peppers? I am trying to make mole and am having trouble finding the peppers. Also "Mexican Chocolate"?

Depending on your recipe, you can probably get the dried peppers at Whole Foods or Manhattan Fruit Exchange at the Chelsea Market. As gutsofsteel mentions, you are certain to find an embarassment of riches if you visit a Mexican neighborhood. Lexington between 100th and 116th has many Mexican markets and bodegas that can supply you with everything from mulato chiles to Mexican chocolate. El Tepeyac Grocery is located right outside the 103rd station if you want to make the trip quick.
