Need some advice/help, if you'd be so kind

I'm wanting to make a chocolate cherry rum cake using black cherries and dark spiced rum b/c...well...i have all of those things on hand lol

However, having never tasted black cherries and spiced rum (or any rum, really) together before, I was just wondering if anyone knew how well that would work? If doesn't usually work well, and you had any better suggestions for spirits that could be found in a rural area and wouldn't require ordering over the internet, I'd really appreciate it.

      Kind of depends on what the rum is spiced with - is it a particular brand? I do think that Bacardi light or dark (unspiced) would work great with the black cherries. Meyer's dark rum should work well also. Malibu (coconut flavoured) ... eh... I don't think so! :)

      Any of those rums should be available at any store that sells spirits, so as long as you're not in a dry county, you should be fine.

        Captain Jerry's lol The guy who owns the liquor store I frequent suggested it since I'm a college student on a budget but I didn't want jet fuel. It's pretty tastey, actually. You'll never mistake it for something high dollar, but for the price, it's my new fave!
