Recommendations for Sarasota Dining?

Hi All...My husband and I are driving down from Tampa to Sarasota for his birthday and will be staying one night. I have read through previous posts regarding Sarasota dining, however it seems a number of the restaurants mentioned have closed. I am looking for recommendations for a nice dinner (not too worried about the cost and would prefer to avoid a chain) as well as somewhere casual for lunch where we can enjoy some seafood with water views. Thank you in advance for your help!

For this special evening I recommend the very best in Sarasota and one of the best in Florida...... Beach Bistro....
A very special restaurant saved for special occasions, and a night that will be remembered. Its on Anna Marie Island, a little hard to find, but well worth it, and a reservation is a must. Enjoy, Happy Birthday, Irwin

Thank you for the recommendation - Beach Bistro looks amazing and it is definitely on my list now. I think we may save it for when we can make a trip to stay on Anna Maria Island since it is a little far to drive. Do you have any recommendations for anything a little closer to the Ritz where we will be staying for the evening? Also, any recommendations for a casual lunch location? Thank you for your help thus far!

Sorry that I did not get back to you sooner with a recommendation.
There are many good restaurants in the downtown area such as Libby's, so when you plan to return give us a shout and we will gladly do our best in recommended the best for you........ Irwin

On the topic of the Beach Bistro, if you ever intend to book there in season on a weekend,
do it early. Just this afternoon I tried to reserve for any night (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) the weekend of March 12th and the only times available were 5:15/5:30 and 9:15 and later!

I really love Cafe L'Europe on St. Armand's Circle. My husband and I drive down from Tampa every few months just to dine there.

Lans on Main St. Price fixed at $35 and very good. Also very small, so make a reservation.

Didn't know about that, only the three course...most likely because I can only eat three courses!!

My favorite kind of meal. Getting to taste a lot of different food, but in small amounts.
