hello,

looking for a place that's open late for dessert in the dupont circle area for the weekend. Its sad that all I can think of is Kramerbooks and Krispy Kreme....

thanks!

I actually like Kramerbooks for late night dessert.

Another option would be Bistro du Coin for a French tart or Profiterols. The desserts are good...not stellar.

I second what Elyssa said, but that's because she and I have very similar tastes, I've found! For late night eats, Kramerbooks pretty much wins near the circle. You could potentially see if Firefly has a kitchen that's open late? I've never been there, but I hear good things... Other CHers know the scoop on Firefly's hours/desserts?

Kramerbooks is good, i do like it. Perhaps I'm looking for a place thats less cafe-ish with a warmer/cozier atmosphere. Or just another dessert option when in the area.

          How late is late?

Another option would be the Dolcezza cafe up CT Ave. Insanely yummy gelato.

preferably a place open until after 10. Tabard Inn's dining room closes at 10, i think I walked past Dolcezza last week - place looks yummy (more inviting than the Bethesda one), but looks like it closes at 9.

perhaps we'll go over to Coco Sala

I'm fairly certain Firefly is open later than that, but not 100% sure.

For desserts at restaurants, the best I've had in the city other than Palena are: Firefly, Bibiana, and CoCo Sala. If i wanted just desserts, I'd probably go to CoCo Sala even though it's not in Dupont. They're desserts are just sinful.

Ooh, yes! I love Bibiana. They do have a late night menu till 12, but I have no idea if that includes desserts.

Not sure how late Tabard Inn serves dessert but that would be a good choice

Also if you are willing to head up to Adams Morgan, Cashion's Eat Place's bar is a good place for a late night cocktail and dessert.

Might be an idea: not officially in Dupont, a little too far north, but Cashion's Eat Place does a late night menu, on weekends at least and I think is open until 11pm other nights. I've had good desserts there and to me it's a friendly cozy atmosphere, but don't know what would be available late, since they do a limited daily menu anyway -- I'd call to ask, don't find the website very useful. (If you head that far up, there's also pie and shakes at the Diner, I suppose, aren't they 24 hours?)

Not Dupont, but how about "Coco Sala."

There's lots of options. Off the top of my head -- Agora's desert menu is limited but all fantastic. They are open real late. Trio (24 hours?). Hank's. Luna (24 hours?). Floriana. Plus lots of places close at 11 so 10 pm should be fine. Firefly. Melting Pot (ideal, no?). Cafe Dupont.
