Restaurant with Private Room - Hoboken/Jersey City/Weehawken

I'm getting married in November of this year and am on the hunt for a reception venue. We are having around 80 people and since I am not too fond of the traditional banquet halls I am looking for restaurants with private rooms or places that we can buy out for the evening. We've seen Casa Dante and The Chart House but there has to be some other places. I'm based in Jersey City and would like to stay in the area but am happy to consider places outside of Hudson County. Thanks!

A couple more have come to my attention. Has anyone eaten at South City Grill or Michael Anthony's or been to an event there? They are both in Newport.

Wow, good to know. I was having trouble reaching someone there so this might explain it.

The SouthCity Grill was closed because the owner also owns the Fire & Oak across the street at the Westin Hotel. He told me he could not afford both places. I was disappointed because SouthCity Grill was always packed and the food was great.

I feel Fire & Oak suffers from being a restaurant attached to a hotel. Poor service and so-so food when I was there last year. Never been back.

Michael Anthony's is like a glorified sports bar. Yes, it is on the water and has nice views, but the food is so-so and the atmosphere within the place is not what I imagine as a backdrop for a wedding.

is well known for weddings and the American Idol Auditions were held there.

Great background for wedding photos, Nyc, Ellis Island & Lady Liberty.
            Another place is http://maritimeparc.com/
it had a great NY times review as well.

Thanks - although I think Liberty House is a bit above my price range. We did see Maritime Parc and it was an interesting space.

And where the judges were sitting is right where my table was at my reception.

I would look at 3 Forty Grill. The place is nice and open and might let you rent out the whole thing. It has a great view of the city and the food is very good.

We love Waterside on River Road in North Bergen. Lovely room, view and food . Try it.

Amanda's in Hoboken gets raves for exactly this kind of event

The new W Hotel (also in Hoboken) is supposed to have stunning views, but I don't know how the food is.

Don't know what your budget is like, but there are definitely other threads like this on CH--probably worth a search!

+1 for Amanda's. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding and the food is top notch.

The restaurant at the W is Zylo, a "Tuscan steak house." The food is good, but I'm not sure what kind of menu they would have for a wedding. Of course, the W may have other caterers on hand for such events.

Thanks - I did look through the threads. Our budget is under $135 per person.
