Rochester rehearsal dinner

I am looking for site for a rehearsal dinner for about 40 people in the Rochester area for this spring. Guests will be either fairly local or staying in the Henrietta area. The rehearsal and wedding will be in Honeoye Falls so I don't want everyone driving all over the area. Reasonable prices and casual. One suggestion is Embers Woodfire Grill in Livonia, but I'm not familiar with the driving logistics.

  1. Leslie, I'm originally from the Rochester area (Henrietta) but have family who live in Livonia. I'm sorry to say I have no suggestions for a suggestion for a rehearsal dinner for 40. However, it should take no longer than 40 minutes (easily done in 30) between Henrietta to Livonia. I haven't been to Embers, but my mother loves it. They do wood-fired pizzas and tapas if I understand correctly.

    1. The Rabbit Room in Honeoye Falls has a great reputation and does handle group events. I've never been to it, but the buzz is good. If I knew how to embed a link, I would, but they have a website worth checking out.

My mother and sister had a great dinner there a few months ago. They were there for a special wine event with a multi-course meal paired with wines. She seemed very impressed with the food, plus, its a convienent location for Leslie.

The reception will be at the Rabbit Room. . They are unable to do a rehearsal dinner there the night before, and that's why we want to be somewhat between Honeoye Falls and Henrietta.

      2. hmmm... OK, back to the drawing board....

How about the Peter Geyer Steakhouse at the Brookwood Inn or the Woodcliff? They are a bit east of Henrietta, but easy to get to. Brookwood is on Rte. 96, Woodcliff is just off of it, both near the Victor interchange with the NYS Thruway. (Everyplace in / around Rochester is easy to get to. It's our almost singular charm.) Both are in hotels / conference centers and should be able to do a group thing easily. It's been a while since I've eaten at either, but both were good (Woodcliff VERY good). (Hope you'll report back on your experiences - I'd really like to hear more about the Rabbit Room.) Good luck & have fun.

I checked with my Rochester restaurant sources (my parents) and they have a few ideas that you might want to check out along the Monroe Avenue corridor in Pittsford: Mario's Via Abruzzi, Next Door Bar and Grill, Black and Blue (Pittsford Plaza). Is there anything at the old Spring House? Also, The Brighton (in Brighton, on East Ave).

Hi. I am not from the area, so I am still checking these places out on line, etc. I appreciate these suggestions. Thanks

              Leslie,

Though I haven't been back since high school, from what I've heard, Mario's is more of a steakhouse, as is Black and Blue (also focuses on seafood).

If you and your party are interested in going into Rochester for a meal, I'd highly suggest checking out Good Luck. I'd call about accomdations since you have a large party, but the food is really outstanding, lots of seasonally inspired food, killer cocktail list and very nice space.

Call first because I haven't been there in several years, but I really enjoyed Calabria's on Pixley in suburban Rochester. It struck me as a good place for an inexpensive rehearsal dinner.

        2. A great place to do a rehearsal dinner in Rochester is The Delmonte in Pittsford. I had my rehearsal dinner there and it was fabulous!

          1. I would vote for Ember Woodfired Grill as it's not too far from Honeoye Falls, and easy access down 390 from Henrietta. They have a very nice separate room that can be divided with large wooden doors, so you have the space to yourself. I would NOT take a large group to Good Luck. The food and drinks are great but the acoustics are HORRIBLE,. If you have older people in the family, they will not be able to hear anyone at all. People at one end of the table will not hear those at the other end. There is a new restaurant in the old Spring House, it's called Monroe's but it is brand new and I haven't been there yet or even seen a menu. Another nice place down the road from Ember in Livonia is North Shore Grill in Lakeville. They have a private room that can hold 20-50 people. They also have deck access from the room, so you can go out to the deck that overlooks Conesus lake. The menu is fish-centric, but the catering menu has other options like chicken french, strip steaks or Prime Rib - ratesEvent menus are on the website with moderate choices that run 20-30pp and upward to $65pp for a full seafood appetizer.

We will be going to North Shore Grill. It was recommended by several people we know in the area, and the catering menu looks like what we had in mind for our very mixed group. In addition, the woman I've been speaking with at the North Shore Grill, has been very nice to deal with. I'm planning this from out of the area, so I want to keep the dinner simple. Ember Woodfire Grill was first choice, but they were unable to handle a large party on a Friday night. We might try Good luck on Thurs. night with a smaller since we will be in the area a few days before the big event. I'll let everyone know how it is, in addition to the wedding at The Rabbit Room.

Glad to hear that you were able to find suitable accomodations. My Mother lives about five minutes away from the North Shore Grill and likes it. I know it tends to be on the louder side, but I highly recommend Good Luck, and think the cocktails and food is heads and shoulders better than anything else in Rochester currently. Enjoy!
