Group Restaurant Suggestion Near Prestonwood C.C. in Cary, N.C.
As a Raleighiete, I don't venture to Cary very often (what's with all those loops?), but my law school is having our "prom" at Prestonwood Country Club in late February.
I suspect I will have a group of 16-20 I need to find a place for us to have some good chow. We don't necessarily have to have one long table, per se, but at least some area where our tables could be together in a room or some tucked-away corner of the restaurant.
These are law students, so I am thinking not $$$$, but something nice for our Barrister's Ball that would be accommodating to a variety of palate-preferences (I have some ethnically cultural friends, a vegetarian, a strictly-meat&potatoes, a "food can't touch each other", and me - the food snob).
Suggestions would be most appreciated that are near Prestonwood C.C. I think some of use are staying at Cary Towne Suites (located near Evans & Cary Parkway about 5 miles away), so area of Cary would be great, too.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! I never venture to Cary, so it might as well be Atlanta as far as I am concerned!
You all are so sweet! I personally *love* An, so that is going to be my push. I didn't realize the hotel was so close to "that side" of Cary. Honestly, Cary is - what - 5/10 miles from my house, but it might as well be a million; I never can get my bearings there.
But, the other suggestions are awesome. I promised my friends a top-3 list, so if any more ideas pop-up, please feel free to post them. Is Maximillians the place that used to be the place that was run by the folks at Bloomsbury Bistro and didn't make it in Cary?
Tell me more about Klara... that sounds cool. In addition to the Caucasians, we have Greek, Lebanese and Pakastani in the mix, so a lot of really neat food preferences.
Thank you all so very much!

Klara's is Czech food. I've not looked at their menu in some time, but Czech food is very Meats and Potato type fare. While Bella Mia's pizza is good, I don't recall the layout of their place being good for a group of people that large. Nikos Taverna is also near places such as Saffron and Tower though both are small. Yes An is not even a 1/2 mile down the road from Heron's/Umstead if you don't mind a pricey meal. You may want to call ahead if you are contemplating that idea to make sure they can arrange for a large table (they have the space). I mean if you want to stretch it you could give Mez a try. It is on Page Rd and closer to I40 than the other places mentioned. Or Lucky 32 for that matter.

The hotel is in the Weston Office Park near the Bar Assoc office.
Nikos Taverna meets your chow, cost & location criteria, as does Biaggi's.
The SAS campus is just up Weston Pkwy, so An and Ruth's Chris are near enough. You're also very near the airport so Babymoon Cafe and the Chop House may work. A member treated me to the buffet at Prestonwood years ago and it was pretty good, so you may want to investigate dining there.
I refuse to pay $13 for a hamburger so have not been to Tribeca, but their beer list is so enticing... I love Abbey Road but it's not 'nice' enough for your event.

Some strange suggestions so far! :) I'm not cutting down the respondents' tastes at all, and I applaud their willingness to help. It's just that when I hear about a "law school prom" with people staying at a hotel and having an evening at the Prestonwood CC, I think they are going to be dressed nicely and want a nice atmosphere. For me, that cuts out Chinese buffets, casual burger joints like Abbey Road, or Mawa's rather spartan interior.
Trying to find a place that would be appropriate for nice clothes, a socially inviting group area, and a budget is going to be tricky. I think Tribeca Tavern is a very good idea. It has a more upscale vibe than you would expect from a burger-oriented restaurant.
Biaggi's is an okay idea. I think Maximillian's would probably work very well. You might be able to take over Klara's in the heart of downtown Cary for an ethnically-themed interesting choice of dining options.
There are also a few options in the wrong direction (they put the hotel between dinner and the country club): Bonefish Grill or Bella Mia for coal-fired Napoli-style pizzas.

Abbey Road is not very far from the CC. Very casual, burgers, salads, barfood. There is a separate room in the dining area which would hold your group. I've only had burgers (excellent) and the best onion rings around. A few veg options, but not much.
I recently tried Chatham Street Cafe, a little further from the CC. I was pretty impressed with the dishes we tried. There are two areas to the cafe, so grouping you all together could work. There are better veg offerings here. Food was prepared well and even though they were inundated with Living Social coupons that night, they still made a great first impression.
BIaggi's (a better version of Olive Garden) is near there and right beside that (other side or parking lot) is Henry's Gelato. If you want to venture a bit further away, you can hit some Indian places closer to Morrisville. Brigg's is nearby as well. Mawa's Taste of Africa is also a bit up the road in Morrisville. There is a huge Chinese buffet but I don't know the quality.
That location is interesting as it is both near and not near anything. Hard to describe. I would suggest putting it into Google Maps and doing a search on restaurants nearby.
