Best place to buy oysters

Looking for the best fish monger to get oysters from in terms of price and quality. Any suggestions?

I'd go to La Mer on Réné Lévesque-great choice, fresh oysters. The choices are limited at Nouveau Falero and the guys have major bad attitude. Last time I was there, the service was AWFUL!

La Mer on Rene Levesque & Papineau has quite a variety of oysters & decent prices (more expensive for oysters that travel the furthest). It is rare to find 5 or more different types of oysters practically anywhere else.

Costco also can be a really good place to buy them, although they don't always carry them (usually they have them during the peak of the season and during the christmas holidays) and selection is limited to one variety (beausoleil)

Believe it or not the best place for cheap, good quality oysters is... wait for it... Loblaws. The malpèques and Beausoleils are the same ones you'll find at most fishmongers and they're just as fresh, but prices are a lot better. The thing about oysters is that the packing date is on the box, so you can't get bullshitted.

If you're looking for more variety, you'll have to go to a fishmonger. My last purchase was at Norref and I was very happy with the freshness and variety, but that was just before NYE when there's a lot of turnover and different varieties are easier to find. I don't really know how it is the rest of the year, since I usually only buy oysters during the holidays.
