Bistro Jeanty vs. Bottega?

I know these are entirely different styles, but I'm trying to decide which would be a better mix with the other meals we are having in Napa. We'll be dining at The French Laundry, Ubuntu, and Ad Hoc. Any comments are much appreciated.

Congrats for getting into TFL. Hold that res. like it is gold!

Love AD Hoc as long as you like the particular menu that day. The menu changes daily (posted on their websit) but they serve the same menu to the whole restaurant. You just have to want what is on the docket on your intended evening.

Just posted something about Ubuntu. :( ..... unfortunately, It is not what it used to be. Read the recent reviews (since Jeremy Fox's departure).

Love Bottega. Great service and great energy. Take your servers recommendations and try things that you would not normally choose. You will not be disappointed.

Can't say much about Bistro Jeanty but curious why Bouchon is not on your list? Why not go for a Keller trifecta? Can't go wrong there!

Redd and Cantinetta Piero are also highly recommended.

Thanks so much. Will check the Ubuntu reviews. Have been to Bouchon in Las Vegas. Was trying to diversify.

I'm going to throw Rotisserie & Wine into the mix; great potted meat selection and a chance to experience Jeremy Fox's twist on Tyler Florence's menu.

Ad Hoc will also do a vegetarian menu, but you should let them know beforehand.

Bistro Jeanty gets my nod. I've been there twice and it's been memorable (in the most positive way!) on both accounts.

Agreed. I'd take Bistro Jeanty over Bottega any day. Bottega has inconsistent execution (the same dish is worse on subsequent visits; service is odd and jerky; menu is overpriced.

I know nothing about Bottega but have eaten at Bistro Jeanty twice over about ten years and, as y'all say, it was consistently good. As ubiquitous as it is, I still love that tomato soup :)

The tomato soup rocks. Dreamy creamy, with that dome of puff pastry...oooh.

With a "cone" of frites, of course :)

Bistro Jeanty is much more consistant than Bottega from our experience. We were disappointed with the food and service on our last visit to the point we will most likely not return.

I went with my group of 5 to have dinner at Bistro Jeanty on Friday night, and we were so pleased with our meal. They offer $1 oysters until 6:30 on weekdays and almost every table was ordering them and for good reason. Cold, fresh and delicious, (sourced from Hog Island I beleive), especially with the minionette sauce. Tomato soup of course was incredible, but one of our party had the daily special, French Onion soup which was declared by some to be the best they'd had.
Service was excellent and combined with some good wine choices, the experience made for a memorable meal.
