Bluestem in KC

We are planning to eat at Bluestem for the first time next week when visiting KC. Was wondering about the wine pairings versus ordering bottles. I have heard they are very stingy with their pours. Any advice? Our group tends to like red wine but are open to trying some whites, do they work around specific preferences or is it a set pairing?

We've done the 7 course w/ pairings twice and both times the pours seemed appropriate if not generous.

The 3 times I have had dinner there, we did the 12 course chef's choice with wine pairing. Seemed like enough wine to me. Some interesting choices as well.

I've really enjoyed it every time I've been there. The lounge is really nice too.

I've done the 7 course with wine and it was beyond excellent. I'm not sure if your trying to get hammered with your meal in reference to stingy pours but I felt that they were fair and proportional to each plate...

Haha, not trying to get hammered. Some of our friends mentioned they didn't want to pay $50 for 7 tiny sips. Just wanted an idea what it was like, as i mentioned someone had said they were stingy pours, didn't know exactly what that meant.
          Thanks for the reply.

Was definitely more than 7 tiny sips. 2 - 3 oz per glass is my guess.

I hope you enjoy your experience there as much as I have enjoyed mine. .
