Eleven Madison Park -- first and last pick dishes (non-tasting-menu)

Hi Folks!

So I'll be dining at EMP next week.
I ate there once before and had the tasting menu and it was fantastic.

This visit will be after a day of travel and we are likely to order from the regular (I believe 4-course) menu.

Do you have 1 dish that you'd especially recommend?
How about 1 dish that you'd say I should steer away from?

  1. Although I'm not sure what the menu will consist of during your visit, I have had both lunch (4-course) as well as dinner (tasting menu) at EMP in the past month. That said, if they still have it, I really enjoyed "Langoustine" as my first course. It was a raw preparation of langoustine, served with celery root nage, green apple and lime. A play on the traditional "ceviche," the acidity from the lime really emphasized the natural sweetness of the langoustine and made it sing.

    I've had both, the "Chocolate" and "Lemon" dessert courses. Chocolate consisted of ribbons of ganache with butternut squash sorbet, a butternut squash butter, pumpkin seed and a chocolate cookie crumble. The ganache was really rich and was great with the squash sorbet and nutty pumpkin seeds.

    Lemon included a lemon poppy seed cake with a lemon frozen yogurt, poppy seed crumble and candied olives. This was really nice for non-chocolate lovers and was very refreshing. I enjoyed the various forms, tastes and textures that lemon was utilized in for this dessert.
