Where to grocery shop in Nassau County?

The closest grocery stores near me are King Kullen, Waldbaums and Stop and Shop (in that order). I only go to K.K. if I need to pick up a few things since the selection is horrible. The Waldbaums near me is not that bad but the produce selection is horrible and I find them to be very overpriced. I like Stop and Shop but the location isn't great (on Old Country Road in the Barnes and Noble plaza). Traffic is a nightmare and the parking sucks, especially on weekends. I have a newborn so I can't go to one place for produce, one place for this one for that etc.. Any suggestions or places I'm forgetting about?

You don't say where you're located, but between ShopRite and Fairway in Plainview, you can do very well, price and selection wise.

I'm in Williston Park. Plainview's not too convenient for me, but good to know if I'm ever in the area.

I'm in Huntington, and I drive there, and to Jericho for Whole Foods. Fairway is very close to Old Country Rd.

Actually the Fairway in Plainview is very easy to get to, right off the Northern State. Before we moved to Manhattan, my husband & I would go there from North Hills (Shelter Rock Rd & the Northern State) every Saturday, starting off our shopping adventure with a relaxing cup of coffee + scones in the Fairway café. (There's room for your stroller!) The meat dept, cheese & olive selections, deli counter, smoked fish, coffee beans, freshly baked goods, as well as produce are all worth the trip. If you haven't been there yet, give it a try and decide for yourself if it's better than hopping around/near Williston Park in order to find what you want. Good luck.

Ok, I'm convinced to give it a try. Thanks for the feedback.

We lived in Mineola right by the Williston Park border for several years. Unfortunately, we ended up alternating between the Waldbaums in Westbury and Whole Foods in Manhasset. Neither completely satisfying. I remember we bought a lot of produce at Sweet Pea. Is that still there?

Sweet Pea is still there, with good produce and an excellent fish counter. Diagonally across Hillside Avenue is H Mart, a Korean-American supermarket that's a big step up from your average King Kullen, Waldbaums, etc.. You could do quite well between these stores and never leave Williston Park, though occasional trips to Fairway for specialty items is a great idea.

I drove by H Mart the other day and thought I should stop in there for some produce, the selection is really huge. Haven't been to Sweet Pea in ages. There is another little food store that just opened next to Sweet Pea - Belle Market or something like that. Haven't been in there.

The best place around the neighborhood is North Shore Farms. I can only speak for the one in Port Washington, but the produce section is amazing. The specialty foods are great. The cheese selection is 3 times the size of Whole Foods. Thank you for asking this question, because I discovered now that they opened one in Great Neck which is more convenient for me. The third is in Glen Cove.
