Recommendations for Midlevel restaurants in Quebec City?

During our trip to the Carnaval du Quebec, we can only afford to go out for 1 premiere level meal. We can't eat at Panache or Toast! every night. So I'd like to hear about midrange restaurants (under $100 for 2 including wine) in the Old Town and nearby (we'll be staying in the Haute-Ville). If such restaurants don't exist (I might be looking for the equivalent of meal for 2 with wine on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for under $23), I'd like to know that too.

Thank you

You can probably dine at L'Echaude for that amount - it's a bistro, classic fare, one of my favourites in Quebec. Another is Cafe du Clocher Penche, in St. Roch, which is more contemporary in style (food-wise).

Bistro fare is fine by us and I've read here and other places that L'Echaude is excellent. If we didn't drink a bottle of wine, would the choices be broader? Cider with crepes and beer with mussels and frites works too.

Le Billig on St-Jean street for crepes and Moss and le Poisson d'Avril for mussels.
