Marketplace Cafe, Pittsfield: the Pits!

Having read some decent reviews and wishing ot grab a quick meal before a concert at the Colonial theater, we headed off to this cafe. Decor looked hopeful, a friendly enough look. We had sandwiches, all of which were bland and gloppy, and I had an order of moussaka, which was adequate after I sent it back twice to get it heated above room temp. We did not have the highly touted baked goods because they were all out by 7 in the eve when we were there. Coffee really weak. There was a nice selection of sodas is the best I can say. Bleh!

hi, the Marketplace down in Sheffield (same owners) is wonderful....the chicken caesar wrap is DELICIOUS as are some of the other selections. I'm not sure if the Marketplace in Pittsfield just needs to get off of its feet-- hopefully at some point soon it will be up to the standard of the one down in Sheffield (because I love the food down there)...

That's good to know. the caesar wrap in Pittsfield tasted three days old and very gloopy.
Have you bought cheese in the Sheffield one? Online the selection looks great. But Sheffield is really far form us, anyway.

No, haven't bought cheese from down there yet--usually get my cheeses at NeJaime's. It's worth the trip down there, and it seems they have some very kid-friendly dishes on the menu, too! Good luck, let us know what you think if you make it there.

The only reason I'd consider going is for Spanish cheeses I have only seen in Spain or NY. Kid friendly no longer a plus for me!
