Fishcamps around Orlando

  • 6

Hi! I'm looking for some good fishcamps in the Orlando area. No sportsbars or chains. I was thinking about the Lone Cabbage or the Black Hammock- do you have any thoughts on these places? I like roadfood style places. Thanks

    1. Black Hammock can be fun on a Friday night if the band is good; the fried catfish used to be very good but I haven't had dinner there in a while. You might want to also check out the Jolly Gator in Geneva on Route 46 and further east, in Mims, there's Loughman Lake Lodge (http://www.airboatridesatloughman.com...).

      1. You get a great view of the river at Lone Cabbage, but the food is honestly nothing worth going back for.

Out of the fish camps close to Orlando, Black Hammock has the best food, but it lacks the view of the water. They have a bar on the water, but the restaurant itself is set back a bit.

If you don't mind heading northeast a bit, the Swamphouse Grill in Debary is a little on the expensive side, but they have good food for a fish camp type restaurant. Also good is JB's Fish Camp in New Smyrna. Just watch for the mosquitoes...

If your interested, here's the blogs I wrote on Lone Cabbage and JB's Fish Camp:
