I have a $50 coupon from Restaurant.com for Bistro Sofia. I would love to find out the name of another restaurant they own. However, I have searched for South St. Diner and could only find Smith Street Diner. Could this be the place you were thinking?

It is Smith St. Diner. I think you would have a tough time spending $50 there, though. It is more of a breakfast place.

Smith St Diner is owned by one of the previous owners of Bistro Sofias. I think Restaurant.com will refund your money for the coupon but I would try calling Smith St Diner, they may honor it. I recommend trying Smith St Diner regardless, it is very good. I believe it is the best diner in Greensboro and I have been to most of them. Pancakes are out of this world, omelets are L-O-A-D-E-D, biscuits are gi-normous, although not my favorite. Sandwiches are huge and very good. All portions are huge. Good country cooking, not too greasy. The food is fresh, doesn't look or taste like it has been sitting under a heat lamp all day like a lot of country cooking.
As far as Sweet Basils, they are closed for good now but they have a second restaurant on Green Valley called Basils and Co...I have not been...

Basil's & Co. is actually on Westover Terrace. It is a bit more casual than Sweet Basil's but worth seeking out.

They have been closed for a couple of months now. I also read in the paper this week that Sweet Basil was closed temporarily to reorganize its finances - don't like the sound of that.
