Fage Yogurt
i just moved to Victoria from the US East Cost. I learning where to shop for the food items I enjoy. Where is the Fage Yogurt? If you haven't had it, you are missing a great Greek-style yoghurt. Any ideas out there? Can it be ordered online?

If you do a search on this board re Fage you'll see its much discussed, beloved and lamented. The upshot of all this is I believe (without rereading it all) that Fage is not available in Canada but that Liberty makes some comparable products. I actually once emailed Fage and asked them why they're not here and it has something to do with high Canadian duties.
Sorry for the bad news : (›2 Replies-

Welcome to the West Coast and the CH boards, skilil. Here's the most relevant recentish thread on Fage (or the lack thereof) in BC
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/640155-- just skip the bitter lemon posts interwoven and you'll get the gist, including some ideas for lesser replacements available here. I find Olympic Krema to be the closest in terms of satisfaction but I really haven't tasted anything here that would compare to/replace Fage.
I have a friend who brings me a fix when she goes down to Portland and I get it on my trips to SF but so far no dice in Vancouver -- I did reread the thread and it appears to be available in TO so there is faint hope.

re: grayelf
Ah Fage, how I love thee. I was one of those who would go down to the States and buy five or six containers of it at a time to get my fix. I've actually found a pretty good substitute for it at Costco - Liberte 0% plain greek yogurt. It's not as tangy as fage but since one can't go to the States every two months all the time, it's a decent sub because it's thick, unlike a lot of yoghurts found here.
I've seen it at Whole Foods/Capers but it's a lot cheaper at Costco - $7.79 for two 500 ml containers. Now if only Costco would carry the fig type I saw at Capers...
