Staying at Verity and having dinner at George for wife's birthday.
Any recommendations within walking distance to have a couple of drinks before or after to split the night up a little?

George itself is pretty good for drinks.

Veritas is close by at King & Sherborne.

All good suggestions from other folks - also I have enjoyed a drink at either Pravda (vodka bar) or Kultura lounge prior to a dinner at George - both are a few blocks away.

... if Pravda (which I agree is really an interesting place) I would suggest it for before, not after, dinner ... later at night it is really really really really (get it?!) crowded and most of the tables/seating areas are reserved.

The only other suggestion is maybe Origin for drinks. Nice space. A little further than Starfish. Trendy.

The Pantages Hotel is about a five min walk from there. They have a lounge called The Martini Bar. It looked nice last time I was there but I have to say I've never had one of their cocktails.

The immediate block around George is a bit of a dead zone, so you'll have to go a few blocks, though not too far, to find some options.

I would suggest walking to Adelaide and having drinks and a few oysters at the bar at Starfish.

Laide is on Adelaide as well, if you're looking for more of a lounge destination.
