We want to eat near Vandam Street and do not want to spend a fortune

Any suggestions for a local restaurant of any type? We plan to go the theater near there so it needs to have reasonably fast service and great food.

    I can give you 3 good choices within a 10 minute walk.

    Turks & Frogs. Well made Turkish food in an elegant setting.

    Quinto Quarto, an Italian cafe specializing in Roman style pastas. The prices are reasonable and the pastas are very good indeed. Avoid the entrees.

    Grand Sichuan International on 7th Ave. This branch of the chain has more ambiance than the other outposts. The menu is more limited than some of the other locations but there are still plenty of attractive choices.

        Quinto Quarto is border-line vile. Ino on Bedford is a cute wine/tappas bar. You could have a nice meal with a glass of wine for $25.

        Cafe Espanol on Carmine by 7th is a bit of a mixed bag--but very reasonable.

        If you want fun/downscale--NoodleShop on Carmine is really good.

          I second Papatzul: very good food and drinks reasonably priced, nice ambiance and good service. Also close to Soho Playhouse, it that's where you are headed.
