Cafe Nana - Secret Manhattan Restaurant
Recently discovered Cafe Nana.
Secret because it's hidden inside the Hillel building at Columbia. But it's open to the public. It delivers. And the food is surprisingly good. Very good indeed.
Short order cooking and sandwiches with a Middle Eastern slant.

They make up sandwiches, shakshuka , etc. while you wait. Good fresh bread. The food arrives hot. I had a sandwich named The Tzfoni - Mozzarella, tomatoes, & fresh basil on ciabetta, it was lightly toasted, the cheese was melty, it was delicious. Because it is a small place, however, my sandwich would have been cold if I had waited to take a bite until everyone at the table was served. But I was impressed by the food.
They were advertising superbowl platters.

I believe that the cafeteria at JTS, Broadway & 122nd, is also open to the public for breakfast and lunch, Mon - Thurs. Meat is served only at lunch on Weds., all other meals are dairy. The food is good and reasonably priced.

re: p.j.
Nope PJ - Cafe Nana is located in the Kraft Building on W 115th between Broadway and Riverdside, and it's not to be confused with the the JTS Cafeteria, which doesn't have a name to my understanding. I think they just call it the JTS cafeteria :) But yes, you're right, the food at the cafeteria is pretty good and they have a lot of options.

re: queenscook
True. but Cafe Nana is not a school cafeteria. I cannot speak for the JTS cafeteria, not having eaten there. But Cafe Nana is a commercial eatery, professionally run in a location inside the Hillel building.
The reason I posted it is that the sandwiches were made fresh to order and were really very good.
