Good Szechwan Chinese food north of the 8 and west of the 15 freeways?

Where have you had good Szechwan Chinese food north of the 8 and west of the 15 freeways?

I have been to Ba Ren (in all fairness, once) I guess it is good but not great. But then I have only had the pleasure of sichuan in a few places (NY, Beijing and Chicago) so I do not have extensive experience.
I had a dry cooked lamb, and several cold dishes (various offal). I thought the lamb had too much sichuan peppercorn and too few chilis. Looking forward to checking for recommendations and going again.

I agree that it is not awesome in terms of quality, but it's the best in San Diego as far as I know. If you want better Szechwan and are willing to drive further, there's a pretty good place in Irvine.

Which place in Irvine? The Spicy House off Culver is decent Szechwan but I prefer Ba Ren over them.

Chong Qing Mei Wei Restaurant Off of Jeffrey. It's relatively (within the last year) new. It's next door to the Sam Woo there if you're familiar with the area

Ok, I think I know what place you're talking about. The one in the corner to the right of the fake Sam Woo? I've walked by it a number of times but never stopped to really check it out.

What dishes do you like at Spicy City/Spicy House? I really don't understand how Spicy City is so busy all the time. Every time I've been there the food was pretty mediocre. I certainly wouldn't wait to eat there but there's always a ton of people waiting for tables outside.

Twice-cooked fish, Chung King fish, Family Style tofu, cold appetizers.

Will have to try those. Is the twice cooked fish similar to the double cooked fish with chili oil at Ba Ren?

Fried fillets, with garlic, peppers, Szechuan peppercorns. The one at Spicy House has the addition of hot fresh orange peppers.
