Does Ralph's La Jolla carry tamarind paste?

Anyone know if Ralph's or Vons in La Jolla (UTC) carries tamarind paste? Tried calling the store but they didn't want to look. We don't want to go down to Convoy to pick some up.

it pains me to say this, but the UTC Whole Paycheck definitely carries it. you might also want to try Bristol Farms...or maybe Jonathan's in LJ Village.

Also try Mexican stores, they often carry tamarind paste.

Yeah, they can be really nice about that.

I have seen it at Ralph's in the past when looking for other "international" foods - in the aisle just to the left of the produce section (looking from the front of the store), but I have not looked for something there recently. I'll be in the store tonight - if I remember I'll see if there is any on their shelves.

Von's - hard to say. They usually have fewer items like that, but then you'll find a few things there you won't find elsewhere. I pretty much live by it, but don't plan on being there for a few days.
