Emeril's Orlando or Tchoup Tchoup
I'm staying at Universal for a few days and was thinking of trying one of Emeril's restaurants. I'm a big fan of his places in New Orleans, and loved his food when he was Executive Chef at Commander's Palace, but I've never been to one of his non-NOLA outposts. Anybody have an opinion which place is better, and are they worth going at all?
Thanks for any help.

If you're looking for another meal besides Emeril's, Primo, in the Grande Lakes Marriott has excellent Italian.

I think the food at Tchoup Tchoup is a little more exotic than what you'd find at Emeril's-- it's like a pan-asian style. Everything I've had there has been good and it's my go-to place if I'm headed to Orlando for a concert at the Hard Rock Live. They do change the menu frequently so it keeps things interesting. It used to be tough to get a reservation, but I don't think it is so much anymore. Seating in the bar area is first come, first serve though.

I've found both to be quite average. Food is pretty good, not great, and the service is nothing to write home about at either place. For what you're going to pay, you can do better elsewhere. All you need to know about dining in Orlando was in last week's Sentinel. In its annual reader survey, the top pick for best Italian restaurant went to Olive Garden.

If you can get to either for lunch, you can enjoy either with a significant savings over going at night. We enjoyed a great lunch at Emeril's at Citywalk.
