Jitlada-All 300 dishes
LA Times had a story about a food blogger who is want to try all 300 dishes on Jitlada's menu.
I've only been to Jitlada once, and we had two dishes. The spicy scallops, were only average. but I did like the miang khun shrimp.
I've heard good things about their morning glory salad, so next time I go to Jitlada that will be my next dish.
Anybody make a dent into Jitlada's menu? What are your favorites?

You have been most helpful, even if it doesn't answer my question. Thanks

i was surprised to see how many are not thrilled with the mussels, i always get that and love it. i do agree the broth is better than the actual mussel! i was there recently, at 5pm on a saturday. tried some items off the southern menu for the first time. i found it to be so delish that i can't wait to return and try more, so i would recommend going that route. but the service issues remain. we ordered brown rice when asked what kind of rice we wanted- so they knew we getting rice. but it NEVER showed up! this has happened before here too. and it's a bummer because by the time we get our rice - after having to ask for it b/c clearly they'd forgotten- we have eaten most of our meal. next time i'm asking for the rice first thing. anyway, i was impressed with the new menu. it was not intimidating and easy to navigate. it made picking out new dishes to try very easy. i'm still a huge fan, but just know going into it that the service stinks and the wait for a table will be long unless you go on an off hour.

The morning glory salad is glorious. In fact I've never had anything there I didn't love.
BUT, this food blogger will probably not be able to eat EVERYTHING on the menu. There is an item named the Spicy Challenge which only two people have ever managed to eat. Our waitress told us she had had only one mouthful and she'd wept for a week afterwards... Apparently, it's quite hot.

I've had it. I love hot, spicy food and feel I can handle just about anything on any restaurant's menu. I could not handle this! It is utterly painful. Ironically, I have found the portions at Jitlada to be on the modest side. This dish was very generously sized. Go figure.

I was there a few weeks ago, and the two guys sitting next to us (who had heard us order thai spicy), were attempting the challenge, but barely ate anything. They offered us a bite, and it was very spicy, though I am pretty sure I could finish it. It was a larger than normal portion though, LOL.

not surprising - i assume they're trying to make the challenge as difficult as they can. did you have to sign a waiver?

Actually, while reading that article in the Times, I think she says that when they started the challenge, that's when she got the idea for doing the whole menu.

Funny, I feel the morning glory salad is fairly boring.
I really only look at the southern Thai menu, and it has many wonderful, yet different items from standard Thai restaurant menus.
But I love spicy and hot food, and the m/g salad is neither - just bland.

Everything on the Southern Thai menu. That's the basic rule.

True, true. That's a menu that I think needs no specific dishes recommended.I think part of the fun is to pick a few new dishes from that menu each time I go. Going in with a list of recommended items to try would defeat half of the fun.
