Kenwood mixer - which one?
After watching my current mixer struggle with a batch of pizza dough, I've decided it's time for an upgrade.
So far, I've narrowed it down to three models - Kenwood Titanium Chef Major KM020, the Titanium Chef Timer KM030, or going the whole hog and getting the Titanium Timer Major KM040.
In your opinion, is it worth getting the timer version over the normal version? Would the size of the Major versions be overkill, or should I just get the smaller KM030 (for general food preparation, not commercial)?
Any opinions on alternatives to Kenwood (e.g. KitchenAid)? At 1500W, it seems like the Kenwood devices are the most powerful out there.

We haven't been able to get Kenwood in the States for some time. For a time they were marketed here under the DeLonghi brand and the mixers were made in Italy. DeLonghi pulled the mixers from the product line a couple of years ago. We have the DeLonghi DSM7 which is a 7qt. mixer the same as the Kenwood KM020 from what I can tell. Although the ones they sold here were rated at 1000W. My wife loves it. That's a good sized mixer, don't know that we could use anything larger, but I don't think it's overkill, my wife certianly doesn't. She makes a lot of cakes and uses close to the full capacity. My oldest daughter wants one, but I haven't been able to locate one in the States.
