Mushroom Turnover Recipe

FoodChic Jan 26, 2011 02:31 PM

Anyone have a good mushroom turnover recipe that they'd be willing to share?
I'd rather have one that isn't full of cream cheese if possible.

Thanks so much!

Not sure if this is what you're looking for.. but I've used this as a filling for puff pastry triangles-
It's basically carmelized onions mixed with sauteed chopped mushrooms. Seasonings are chopped parsley, thyme, salt and pepper.

You could also mix the carmelized onions and mushrooms in with mashed potato for a potato/mushroom filling. When I do that, I skip the herbs and add in some dijon mustard.

I make a filling as cheesecake (no potato) with some (a little) Fage yogurt or sour cream and use phyllo folded like a flag. I also have made spinach(spanakopita sometimes) and I have used crab.

Here are a couple of recipes for mushroom turnovers that don't use cream cheese:

Made some yesterday, in fact. Puff pastry with seared mushrooms and caramelised onions finished off in the pot with some balsamic vinegar.
i did add some goats' chevre to some of them, and that worked too.
