Long shot I know...

My boyfriend's father used to go to a restaurant in St. Paul called Lee's Highland Village Inn (it has been closed for quite some time). He could not get enough of a cake they used to make there. I've been trying to find the recipe, but I've got no leads on a former owner, chef, anything. If anyone knows a place to start I would be eternally grateful. Thanks!

I think the Theros family members who now own the Broiler are not the same Theros family members that used to own it not that long ago and that owned Lee's Highland Village.

What kind of cake was it?

I believe the Theros family owned Lee's Village Inn. They currently own the St Clair Broiler - you could start there.

I remember this place well. They had wonderful homemade desserts. I was a fan of their pies (coconut cream and many other kinds). I don't remember the cake though.

Lee's Highland Village Inn used to be where the Chatterbox Cafe is now. One option might be to call them, and see whether the current owners have any leads on the former proprietors?

Also, Kathie Jenkins at the Pioneer Press occasionally accepts such queries and prints them in her weekly Dining articles, either with a recipe or as a wider broadcast for an answer.

It was a white cake with lemon filling. Thanks for the ideas, I'll check into them!
