1st trip to Le Creuset outlet- WOW

t

After hearing about the outlets from Chowhounders I made the 2+ hour drive and was glad I did. At first I didnt think the prices were that great ( about the same as a sale at our local cooking shops) but after looking around a bit I really liked the selection-overwhelming really- I realized they had a 40% off rack plus this month they had Azure Blue 30% off and if you bought a couple of pieces you got an extra 40% off your next piece of whichever was the most expensive. Needless to say it was an expensive trip but I love my new pieces ! Once you are in their system you get notices of specials and reasonable shipping-they had seconds and 1st quality items and when I can afford it I will go back

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here! :-p

I have an outlet about 30 minutes from home and it's bad news bears every time I approach the place. The staff all know me by name (as well they should...) and it's the rare occasion I don't leave with something.

Just wait until the mailers come rolling in and you start drooling. Just tear them up, burn the pieces, and walk away! hehehe

Seriously, welcome to the dark side!

      Oooo, sounds awesome!

So what did you have to buy to get the 40% off an item?? I am on the market for a 5.5 round oven.

Oh and sorry one more question--does the outlet carry the dutch ovens in white by any chance?

Sorry I have never been to one but I'm considering making the trip to one a couple hours away this weekend, just want to figure out if it's worth it!

The Grove City, PA outlet does not have white. Red, Flame, Kiwi, Dijon, Cobalt, Caribbean, Black, and odd pieces of Azure, Powder Pink, Citron, Matte Black, Chili Red (without the gradation), and maybe a couple other random things here and there.

I've been told they'll be getting Cassis around summertime.

It was, I believe, a color - along with a similar baby blue - made for the Japanese market. I've seen a few of the flower-shaped Creuset ovens on eBay.

Now if a red one of the flowers would turn up (not the one on eBay that has a very obvious flaw on the lid) I'd give my eye-teeth for it!

No, I really, really, really want the flower. It's small, but it's a Japanese exclusive piece. The one in red that's listed on ebay is being sold by a person who had three - one in red, flame, and dijon. They were originally listed at $700 each - so that had me irked. The flame and dijon sold for around $400, after the seller kept lowering the price after getting no bites.

I want the red one and made an offer for this exact price ($299) before - when they were still around $400 and was told that she didn't care if she sold them or not and wouldn't take the price.

Well, the red's still hanging around because it has a pretty big and visible bubble on the lid (pictured on the lobe closest to the viewer in the picture). And I'm not buying it on principle. My money wasn't good enough for the seller before - so it's not good enough now.

That, and darn it, it's a 2 quart decorative piece. Paying that much for it is kinda silly, rare or not.

Prof. $400 is just too much! But I notice in Japan there are more varieties.

By the way, I have one piece I really really like:
                    http://www.lecreuset.co.uk/Home/Whats...

It is sooooo cute but looks like UK only. I saw it only once at ebay US and it was bid up sooo high. Still thinking about buying it somehow. I don't know why LC US doesn't do the same for thanks giving etc... well maybe next year.

Yeah - those pie birds turn up on ebay too. Usually the red one will go for around $30, plus or minus. It is adorable. I've never been to a "Signature" store, but we should certainly get access to all of these awesome pieces too!

Those pastel colors are very pretty, but I can't see braised food in them which is what enameled cast iron is mostly used for, Those look better suited to a doll house kitchen.

If you call the one nearest you, they'll answer your questions on color, price, sales, etc.. give them a call.. and see what kind of specials are going on for the piece you want.

the outlet seconds are such substantial savings because there may be a pin point of missed color.. some are more noticeable than others.. so when a box is brought to you, look it over well.
Almost all of mine are seconds and almost impossible to find the imperfection. I have had one brought out where it was noticeable.. so I always inspect before ringing up.. they'll bring out another box if need be until you are happy. :)

Agreed - of my 30 pieces, I'd wager 20 or so are seconds. And, like you said, outside of a pinpoint of color in the wrong place or the slightest scratch on the bottom of the piece (where it's gonna get a little worn anyway!) they're immaculate.

Grove City is my closest Factory Store, Prof B. I dealt with Jenna, who is just the nicest person in the world. I don't need anymore LC now, but I know if I went back, I'd surely find _something_ I suddenly couldn't live without.

If you don't live near one of the outlet malls, you can call any LC store and they'll ship to you. In Nov. and Dec., I got free shipping every time I spent more than $100. And the salespeople will pick through to find you the best one available if you can spend a couple of minutes on the phone. And they keep plying you with ever higher percentages off.

Here's a link to the outlet stores and their phone numbers: http://lcstores.com/locations.asp

I live in Pittsburgh, so it's a bit of a schlep, but it's fun to go there. I just wish the whole place didn't reek of scented candles.

I would call them if you need a specific piece. The Arizona outlet has dijon, flame, red, dune, carribean, kiwi,, the new blue that looks like azure to me-they had the azure and citron on sale. I dont remember seeing white and no cassis. I bought the saucier, the grill pan and the buffet. The grill pan was citron so it was 40% 0ff then she gave me 20%off the saucier and 40% 0ff the buffet-she considered it 5 pieces because they counted the 2 lids as pieces which suprised me. They had the Azure tea kettles for $29.99 then they gave me a scratch off discount card for Feb. I was only looking for cast iron but they had specials on other Le Creuset products also

Kinda heard rumblings here and there that dune is going and white is coming back. That's only rumor, but I think it's a nice one.

I agree :) I saw an awesome deal on a white 5.5 on ebay yesterday--and before I had time to think about it, it was gone! Lol.

I got my first LC for Christmas...just bakeware though, so now I am ready to get my first round oven--but I want it to be white, and I want to find a good deal, lol. Everyone keeps telling me not to pay full price but I'm getting too anxious and sick of waiting for a "deal" lol.

Thanks :) I think I saw that last night but I wasn't sure if she meant it was only on the kiwi color or not. I think our closest one is about 2 hrs so I guess I need to figure out all the details and see if they have the one I'd want first! I'm pretty sure I decided on the 5.5 round in white. But, I keep changing my mind, lol.

I think it is online, too. but don't know there is free shipping together. Maybe start checking Thursday/Friday already is a good idea. Last time I found the 3.5 qt wide round for $109, it was gone so quickly. While I found and posted it, it was already goooone. Snap! It is really a fun time of the year to hunt cookware. Wish you a luck.
