evening cooking class for 20.... recommendations?

  • 6

I belong to a professional group with an interest in a cooking class. It would be an evening setting of approx 4 hours, anyplace to the west of downtown Boston with a focus on tips to preparing the menu, preparing the meal, and the selection of wine and enjoying the meal. The group would be 18 - 25 attendees with a preference to the first week in May.
DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCES THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? Or leads for me to follow up on?

Thanks, Bill from Cape Cod.

  1. Cambridge School of Culinary Arts or Create-a-Cook in Newton, which also offers adult cooking classes.

    1. taranta in the north end does this in their upstairs, with the chef-owner leading the pack.

      1. Do you want to watch and listen or cook?
I've been to Cambridge SCA and thought it was fun. You actually do the cooking there and at least for the "cooking for couples" classes it is lightly supervised, not instructed. They could probably handle 20 in one lab.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing somewhere that Taranta is more of a demo.

Thanks, we are looking for a hands on...do it then eat it type situation. (If possible!)

Cook it and eat it has been my experience w/ Cambridge SCA.

        2. Check out Action Kitchen at the Seaport Hotel. I haven't participated but my brother did and really enjoyed it. http://www.actionkitchenboston.com/
